Our History

Helios was founded in 2007 by Anne Beneventi, an esteemed expert in gifted education: She is a Certified Master Practitioner and Director of the Annemarie Roeper Method of Qualitative Assessment (QA), is past chair of the Global Awareness Network of the National Association for Gifted Children, serves on the board of Gifted Homeschoolers Forum, and is a member of the Columbus Group of Professionals. In 2017, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of the Gifted).

Anne and her co-founders built a culture and curriculum that are tailored to the intellectual and social-emotional needs of the gifted. In this caring community of true peers, our students don’t have to hide their genuine selves — their intellectual drive, their intensity, their emotional sensitivity. They can embrace their passions and pursue their interests as far as they want to take them.

In 2014 Helios moved from Palo Alto to our expansive 4-acre campus in Sunnyvale, CA and opened our Middle School.

Helios continues to thrive with over 150 students in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
